WHAT MAKES US TICK

No one can make us run into burning buildings and toward danger - we do it voluntarily!  Are we crazy?  Well, maybe a little.  But there's so much more to it than the adrenaline rush.

“Volunteering is about being a part of something bigger than yourself. We come from a variety of backgrounds for a common purpose, to help someone in need”

Wally, Engineer

“I enjoy the whole experience… the people especially, and working with them for the betterment of the community.  I like helping people who are in immediate need, either fire or medical, or with disaster relief.  I like the training, and the action of going on a call.”

Austin, Lieutenant

“I like being an active member of the community and helping people.  I don’t want my friends and neighbors wondering why no one showed up to put out their house fire.”

Susie, Firefighter/EMT

“Helping the community is my main reason that I volunteer.  I live here and feel that I need to give back to the city I live in.  But the extended family is pretty sweet too.”

Terry, Engineer

“We are a group of folks that come together for a reason - to help make someone else's life a little better in a bad time.  I love my job.  It’s an adventure and it’s free training.”
